The model of 1972 Mercedes Benz W115/220D (the engine was actually 200ccs bigger and it had a turbo) was named "Rokkimersu" - "The Rock'n'Roll Mercedes". The car used to be a taxi and the total mileage was somewhere aroud 1'200'000 km (a one million and two hundred thousand). I think "the jungle interior" of this one is the thing we all have been missing the most.
The Rock'n'Roll Mercedes met its winner on July 7th 1995 and it was fallen under a shadow on the fields of glory only after 5 weeks of driving. The struggle was furious but few "rollovers" (I counted two =) were too much. Luckily the shieds held and the captain did not sink with the ship. This unhappy accident was NOT my fault. It was caused by rough weather (warm and nice summer evening) and by a Toyota Corolla, which was required to give way but did not and I tried to dodge it...
